Women Working in Television (WWiT)

Women Working in Television is a partnership between the Australian Film Commission (AFC) and the Australian television industry. The Nine Network, the Seven Network, Network Ten, the ABC, SBS, Free TV Australia and the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) have been actively involved in this partnership since 1998. In 2003, the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) joined with us to make Women Working in Television an industry-wide partnership. Women Working in Television focuses on initiatives designed to assist career development and networking opportunities. The initiatives to date include:

Networking forums
Including ongoing breakfasts, cocktail parties, lunches nationwide and a series of forums in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, which feature local, interstate and international speakers and offer a networking opportunity to a large number of women.

Publications
Each year Women Working in Television produces a significant industry publication that is distributed free nationally.

The project theme for 2004 is Women Towards Leadership. The lasted publication, Tuned into Leadership - women and television, based on this theme, was launched at the annual cocktail party at The Wharf on 18 October. You can download the pdf below or contact publishing@afc.gov.au for a hard copy.
Workshops
Workshops for women in television aimed at developing skills in career planning, negotiation, communication and mentoring.
