AFI announces winners for feature films


The Australian Film Institute recently announced the Feature winners for the 2004 AFI Awards. Cate Shortland's debut film Somersault took out a record 13 awards, winning every category for which it was nominated.

Winners are the first films listed in each category and AFC-funded films are marked with an asterisk.

Throughout August, AFI members are invited to judge and vote on a showcase of Australian feature and non-feature films screened as part of the annual AFI Member Judging Screenings.

Anyone with an interest in film can join the AFI and vote in the AFI Awards. By becoming an AFI member and registering to vote in this year's AFI Awards, you will be entitled to see, and vote on, all nominated non-feature films in the categories of Best Short Fiction, Best Short Animation and Best Documentary, along with selected Feature Films during the AFI Awards Judging Screenings season.

In its 46th year, the 2004 AFI Awards will roll out the red carpet at Melbourne's Regent Theatre on Friday October 29.
