Congratulations to all the filmmakers whose AFC-funded / supported films have recently won awards or been selected for screening at other festivals around the world:
The Black Balloon (p: Tristram Miall, d/w: Elissa Down) won a Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival and was screened at NSW Parliament House. The Bit of Black Business short drama Nana (p: Kath Shelper, d/w: Warwick Thornton) won the Kplus Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Sacred Ground (w/d/p: Kim Mavromatis) has been selected to screen at the Global Green Indigenous Film Festival, New Mexico and the International Film Festival England. Feature documentary Donkey in Lahore (p: Axel Grigor, d/w: Axel Grigor, Faramarz K-Rahber) has been selected to screen in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane (d/p: Louise Alston, p: Jade Van Der Lei) has been accepted into the Singapore International Film Festival and the London Australian Film Festival. Burley (p: Andrew Goode, d: David Edwardz, Gareth Cowan, w: David Edwardz) has been selected to screen at Aspen Shortfest in the US and Algarve International Film Festival in Portugal. Maverick Mother (d/p/w: Janet Merewether) screened on SBS Television. Beyond the Backyard ( p: Jason Byrne, d: Josh Moore, w: Duncan Imberger) screened on ABC TV. The Sexual Life of Us (p/d/w: Jenny Ainge) a two-part documentary about changing sexual habits, boundaries and etiquette screened on SBS Television. Chainsaw (p: Fiona Cochrane, p/d/w: Dennis Tupicoff) has been invited to screen at the Stuttgart Animation Festival. Girl Friday (p: Karla Burt, d/w: Vanessa Burt) won Best Entertainment at the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association Awards. The Pure Drop (p/d/w: Thomas Ashelford) was nominated for the Best Learning and Education program. Toucan (P: Nicole Minchin and d/w: Adam White) has been selected for screening at the St Kilda Film Festival. The Funk (p: Melanie Coombs, d/w: Cris Jones) has been accepted into the Melbourne Film Festival. Holding Your Breath (d: Anthont Lucas, w: Stuart Page, p: Anthony Lucas, Julia Lucas, Edwina von Steigler) has been invited to screen at the Stuttgart Animation Festival. Into the Dark (w/d: Dennis Tupicoff, p: Fiona Cochrane, Dennis Tupicoff) has been invited to screen at the Stuttgart Animation Festival. PodLove project Virtual Freedom (d: Gef Senz, w:Gef Senz & Muang Muang Aye, p: Beth Frey) has been invited to Screen at the Stuttgart Animation Festival. Feature film Left Ear (p: Clare Mackey, Andrew Wholley, Lech Mackiewicz, d: Andrew Wholley, Lech Mackiewicz, w: Lech Mackiewicz) has been accepted into IndieLisboa Film Festival in Portugal.
