Success of AFC-supported films - Apr 08

Congratulations to all the filmmakers whose AFC-funded / supported films have recently won awards or been selected for screening at other festivals around the world:

  • All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane (d/p: Louise Alston, p: Jade Van Der Lei) received the Audience Choice Award at the London Australian Film Festival.

  • Chainsaw a 15-minute animated film (d: Dennis Tuppicoff p: Fiona Cochrane) has been invited to the Annecy International Animation Festival, Stuttgart International Animation Festival, Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival.

  • Sacred Ground (d/w/p: Kim Mavromatis) has been selected to screen at the 2008 Global Green Indigenous Film Festival in New Mexico ane the 2008 International Film Festival England.

  • The Funk (d/w/p: Cris Jones) has been invited into the St Kilda Short Film Festival.

  • Donkey in Lahore (p/d:Faramarz K-Rahber ep: Mark Chapman) has been selected for the 7th Annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

  • The Girl Who Swallowed Bees has been invited into the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

  • Burley (p: Andrew Goode, d: Gareth Cowan,w: Dale Edwards) has been invited to compete at the Algarve Inernational Film Festival in Portugal.

  • Left Ear (d: Peter Rasmussen, d/w: Lech Mackiewicz) has been selected for the IndieLisboa Film Festival in Portugal.

  • Searching for Sandeep (d: Poppy Stockell) will screen at Hot Docs - the Canadian International Documentary Festival.


    Documentary Donkey in Lahore (p/d:Faramarz K-Rahber ep: Mark Chapman) will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.


    AFC-suppported short animation Chainsaw is one of the three Australian films screening at Annecy International Animated Festival.


    Searching for Sandeep (d: Poppy Stockell) will screen at Hot Docs - the Canadian International Documentary Festival.
