In Unit 68 at Platypus Rise, Teesh and Trude live on a diet of soapies, sarcasm and frustration. Trude hasn't seen her kids since her husband walked away four years ago. Teesh has had a gutful of her son Kenny and her jailbird father Bob is about to arrive on the doorstep. Boyfriends Les (he's Teesh's) and Rod (he's Trude's) add their own charms to a bad day that's getting worse by the minute. Still…things have got to get worse before they get better…

Melanie Rodriga has directed 19 films and written most, including three features-Trial Run, Send a Gorilla and Teesh and Trude. She was a finalist in the 1998 NZ Listener Film and Television Awards (for Best Director in TV Drama) for her work on the TVNZ series The Marching Girls. She has extensive experience in film and TV writing, direction, editing and production, and teaches film writing, production and editing at higher education institutions.

Melissa Hasluck graduated from the Swinburne University of Technology with a Graduate Diploma in Film and Television. Since then she has worked in various production roles, from art director to first assistant director, including director/producer of the Special Broadcasting Service half-hour documentary Artists Up Front: Ningali Lawford. In 1999 she produced her first TV drama, Christina's Birthday, for SBS Independent. In 2001 Melissa produced two ScreenWest-funded short films, Bad Credit and Aliens and Pink Pyjamas, which screened at festivals around the world.
